Sand between our toes

So most evenings, we try to take a family walk between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m.   We usually just walk around our neighbourhood and check things out.  But we decided to venture down to the beach this time since we only live a mile away.  David really enjoyed himself!  Daddy carried him in the baby bjourn (which he ALWAYS loves) and he even got down an put his toes in the sand.
He was so content just watching the waves

He didn't really enjoy the sand as much as he did the waves.

I really want to make the effort for us to have good quality family time everyday, and for us that is going for walks. It's so nice to step outside and walk and talk without a bunch of other distractions.  With the career David has it's important to take advantage of the moments we do have together.  Plus, I think in today's society one to many kids sit holed up in their rooms watching TV, playing video games, or surfing the web without any parent interaction. I can guarantee David will not be raised that way. As his parents it is our responsibility to use all the opportunities we can to teach him the right life style and to discover the things that are most important in life before someone else has the opportunity to show him otherwise. I think a lot of parents forget to be parents because they are to busy trying to make sure their kids are always happy and never upset at them. When I stand before God one day I want to be able to say that I did everything I could to lead and guide my child down the right path.  (Oh geez I sound like my parents :) lol ).  I want David to always have a close and open relationship with us, and to know that spending time with him is important to us. I look forward to sitting on his bed doing family devotions, saying bedtime prayers and reading books.

OK I really went off on a tangent there.....but anyways back to our little outing.  On the way home from the beach David was so cute in his car seat trying his hardest to get his paci in his mouth all by himself.
He is getting better and better at it.  He has succeeded a couple of times in the past but no such luck tonight.  That's O.K because it was fun to watch him try.
